Story
A cultural and social infrastructure in Andorra La Vella The ESPAI CAPITAL project by Sideral . KF is a visionary architectural endeavor located in the heart of Andorra La Vella. This project is strategically positioned in the center of the valley, known as the "melic" of the country, and is designed to integrate seamlessly into the urban fabric. The building aims to generate new public spaces and serve as a high-performance cultural and social infrastructure. The design is characterized by its iconic rotation of the main volume, which responds to the site's topography and urban context. The façades are treated to address functional, urban, and landscape criteria, resulting in a permeable structure that manages large crowds while offering friendly, human-scale spaces integrated into the historical fabric of the city. At street level, the building forms a façade that dialogues with the urban environment, ensuring continuity with the historic center. The volume's slight rotation at the top of Plaça del Poble creates a dynamic front, fostering urban interactions and establishing the building as a public landmark. A significant feature of the project is the creation of a new 3,000 m² public space, a green roof that acts as a static space, an ecological connector, and an extension of the civic space of Plaça del Poble. This space reinforces the project's open equipment vocation, offering visual permeability and natural connections to the river and the city.
